Food-Grade CMC Powder Analysis

Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose can truly be hailed as the "universal supporting player" in the food industry. Like a magician, it can make yogurt thicker, ice cream creamier, and sauces cling better to the spoon.
When you pick up a bottle of salad dressing at the supermarket and give it a gentle shake—observing that the dressing remains perfectly emulsified without separating—or when you bite into a piece of soft, smooth jelly, this ingredient is working its magic behind the scenes. Even more fascinating is its ability to act as a "sweetness amplifier" in low-sugar foods; by allowing manufacturers to achieve the ideal texture with a reduced amount of sugar, it helps food companies optimize their product formulations.

Applications of Food-Grade Thickener CMC:

1. Used in fruit teas, vegetable juices, and similar products to keep fruit pulp, various solids, or other ingredients suspended within the container, ensuring a uniform and substantial appearance with bright, vivid colors, while also improving mouthfeel.
2. Used in neutral flavored milk beverages—such as cocoa milk—to increase viscosity and prevent the sedimentation of cocoa powder.
3. Maintains beverage stability and extends product shelf life.
4. Applied in foods such as jellies, milk puddings, and jams, where it plays a crucial role in the gelling system.
5. In fermented dairy products, it enhances viscosity, improves texture, consistency, and mouthfeel, and stabilizes the overall system.
6. In instant noodles, it helps prevent dehydration shrinkage and improves the expansion rate.

Applications of Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC)

Thickener Powder in Other Fields

Food Industry: When making ice cream, adding 0.5–1 kg of CMC per 100 kg of raw ingredients results in a smoother, silkier texture. Adding 0.3–0.5% to bread dough makes it softer and more elastic. Incorporating 0.2–0.3% into sauces helps prevent separation and sedimentation.

Daily Chemicals Industry: Adding 0.5–1% to shampoos and body washes enhances viscosity and stability. Adding 1–3% to toothpaste yields a finer, smoother paste that is less prone to drying out or cracking.

Industrial Sector: In papermaking, adding 0.5–1% increases paper strength. In paint and coatings, adding 1–2% prevents pigment sedimentation.
