Advantages of CMC in Oil Drilling
1. Excellent fluid loss control: Fluid loss can be controlled at a high level with relatively low dosages without affecting other mud properties.
2. High-quality, strong, and tough mud cake.
3. Good temperature resistance and excellent salt resistance: Even at certain salt concentrations, it maintains good fluid loss reduction capabilities and certain rheological properties. The viscosity remains almost unchanged when dissolved in brine versus water, making it particularly suitable for offshore drilling and deep wells.
4. Excellent control over mud rheology, exhibiting good non-Newtonian fluid properties. Furthermore, when used as a cementing fluid, CMC can prevent fluid from entering pores and fractures; when used as a fracturing fluid, it can control fluid loss into the oil well.

The Role of CMC Petroleum Grade in Oilfields
1. CMC-containing drilling mud forms a thin, strong, and low-permeability filter cake on the wellbore, reducing water loss.
2. Adding CMC to drilling mud results in lower initial shear force on the drilling rig, facilitates the release of trapped gas, and quickly disposes of debris in the mud pit.
3. Like other suspensions and dispersions, drilling mud has a limited shelf life; adding CMC stabilizes and extends this lifespan.
4. CMC-containing drilling mud is less susceptible to mold growth and eliminates the need for preservatives.
5. As a drilling mud washing fluid treatment agent, CMC resists contamination from various soluble salts.
6. CMC-containing drilling mud exhibits good stability and reduces water loss even at temperatures above 150°C.
